Here we offer a very fine 18ct GOLD & ENAMEL Pocket Watch, by the The EMINENT ENGLISH Makers BARRAUD & LUND of Cornhill and which dates to 1865c. The Case and Movement are in SUPERB Condition, which makes this a very desirable collectors piece.
It has a Jewelled Fusee Lever Movement with sn 2/8727, which is in excellent running condition and keeping very good time (-1 over 24 hours). It is Key Wound at the back and Key Set on the dial and is signed as shown in the pics.
It is housed in an 38mm (52mm incl. pendant ring) – in an usual and exquisite 18ct GOLD & Enamel Case, which is Stamped with the Makers Mark AS ( Alfred Stram, Northampton Sq., London – see Priestley) and bears the Crown 18 Gold Mark, with a London Assay Mark and Year Date for 1865c. It bears the same sn as the movement. Note – (25.4mm =1 inch) .
The 34mm Enamel Dial, has an unusual blue chapter ring, which matches the interwoven colour on the back. It is in very Good Condition and has Black Roman numerals and Blued Steel Fusee Hands. It has a Glass Crystal and is being sold as described and in the condition as shown in the pics – (Ref : 439 D)
This watch is being sold in the condition as described and as illustrated in the pics, comes to you directly from a Long Time Local Collector and has not been on the market in more than 30 years.
