This is a beautiful late 18th Century, Fusee Lever Pocket Watch, by Henry James of Edinburgh which comes in 22ct GOLD Pair Cases, both dated London 1791c .
The 35mm Enamel Dial is in very good condition, has Roman Numerals and Arabic Minutes in the outer chapter ring. There is a light hairline running from 1.30 through the centre to 6.00 and another from the centre towards to 10.00. It has lovely period hands ( The minute has been fixed).
The Plate bears serial number 245 and has had a later Fusee Lever upgrade. It is an early table roller and the ruby pin protrudes from the roller, which is sited partly below the top plate. It is in very good cosmetic and working order and was recently overhauled by my watchmaker. It is running fast however due to a hairspring fault, which was adjusted somewhat.
The 39mm Inner Case (60mm incl. Pendant Ring) is in very good condition, save for one ding near the winding hole. It bears the Makers Mark T P which is that of Thomas Peyton of Old Steet Sq. (see Priestley). It is stamped with the Lion Passant 22ct Gold Standard Mark, has a London Hallmark and a Year Date for 1791c, with right facing duty mark. The 48mm Outer is in superb condition, with beautiful decoration and bears the same markings as the Inner. The cases without movement and glass weigh 48grams (€1490 approx) – (Ref : 318 D)
22ct Pair Cases have become extremely rare in the marketplace,so this beautiful Gold Pocket Watch will make a super addition to your collection.
The S&H WORLDWIDE is €90 approx for Worldwide Delivery by Fedex Courier Services.
