General Description:

This is an early American Watch Co – Model 1868 -15J -16sz Movement with Foggs Safety Pinion. It is housed in a 9ct Gold Open Face Case, which was specially commissioned from Benson Bros., Liverpool in 1922. It is in superb cosmetic condition and working order and is keeping good time.

The 44mm White Enamel Dial has Roman Numerals, is signed American Watch Co. and is in superb condition with no apparent defects. It has a set of blue steel spade hands.

The 3/4 plate Model 1868 Movement has Gilt Plates and bears s/n 360233, which dates to 1868/69c manufacture ( according to the Waltham Workbooks from 1900c.). It is signed American Watch Co., Waltham Mass. and has 15 Jewels, a flat hairspring and is KW/KS on the back. It is also stamped  Foggs Safety Pinion; Patent Feb 14th 1865.

The 50mm Diameter (70mm. incl ring : 25.4mm = 1 inch), 9ct Gold Case is signed BB (Benson Bros., Liverpool – see Priestley), as shown in the pics. It is in superb condition with no visible defects and bears Sn 60233 (The last 5 digits of the movement number).
