General Description
Here we offer a rare Irish Massey 5, Fusee Lever Pocket Watch, which has an Enamel Dial and is in very good condition. It bears the Case Maker’s initials E J on all covers. The Movement is signed Wm. Broderick, Dublin; is working very well and keeping good time. It is Key Wound on the Back, Key Set on the Dial and bears the sn 1761. William is listed as working from 1818 to 1868c at Essex Quay as a Watch & Clockmaker – see “Watch and Clockmakers in Ireland”, by William Galland Stuart : (Edited by David Boles).
The Movement is in very good cosmetic and working condition and was recently Serviced by my Watchmaker. It has Liverpool Windows Jeweling and is keeping time to within 3 mins per day, with room for adjustment on the regulator. It has a 29 hour chain.
It is housed in a Silver Hunter Case, which measures 53mm in diameter and is 22mm deep – (25.4mm =1 inch). It is in very good condition, bears Silver hallmarks with a year date for Chester 1818c. There is a small ding and a crease at the 8.00 position.
The 46mm Cream Enamel Dial is in very good condition, has large Roman Numerals, a Glass Crystal and Gold hands.
It is being sold as described and in the condition as shown in the pics and comes to you directly from a large Irish Watch Collection, which was assembled over the past 40-50 years – (Ref : ACC 256).
