K.Pritchard states that the name Liengme was associated with the town of Cormoret from 1800 -1833. G.Henri Liengme registered the “Fram” Trademark in 1897 and the company was later incorporated as Liengme & CIE, SA, Manufacture D’Horlogerie, Montres Gala, in Cormoret. It was listed as a Manufacturer as late as 1974.
A. Racine-Liengme established a small watch business (Manufacture d’Horlogerie Liengme & Co.) on January 16, 1888 in Cormoret, selling their products with the funny name ‘Zelt mit Fahne’ (tent with ribbon, although ‘Fahne’ in German also means ‘tipsy’!). The Liengme Watch Co. was active from 1888 until 1974, producing watches under names – Gala, Veto, Certo & Orvie.
