This is a Large SWISS Made Lever Pocket Watch, which is signed on the Dial : Weir & Sons – Dublin and dates to pre 1920c. It was recently fully overhauled by my Watchmaker, so is running well, keeping good time and has a 43 hour Power Reserve. The gap between the bezel and the rim, indicates that this was designed for use on a vintage car dashboard.
The Superb Gilt Bar Movement has 13 Jewels, is in very good cosmetic condition and is Stem Wound and Set. It bears SN 33323 and the dial orientation is reversed to enable the watch to be wound at the bottom, as the crown would have been recessed into an opening at the bottom of the dashboard.
It is housed in a 69mm Nickle Case, which has a Brass snap-on bezel and a snap-on back.
The 56mm Enamel Dial has Large Roman Numerals and is in very good condition – the only flaws are a small colour loss on the 8, light hairlines between the 8 & 9 and a small chips on the edge at 6.00 and 12.00. It has a nice set of Blued steel hands and a Glass Crystal and is being sold in the condition as described and as shown in the pics.
This is a rare timepiece, which harks back to the early days of motoring and would make a nice addition to any collection – (Ref. D 010).
