General Description :
Here we offer an English Pocket Watch with the a rare Defaubre, double wheel Chaffcutter Movement, which is in excellent condition and in good working order, but running somewhat fast. It was made by James Houghton of Ormskirk, who is noted for producing these watches and dates to 1815c.He was born in 1791, qualified in 1811 and is listed In GH Baillie in Ormskirk from 1800 to 1820.
The 52mm Silver Case bears the makers mark IC, which is either Joseph Clarke, 1801 or John Crossland, 1817 – see Priestley and sn 160 is the same as the movement. It is 18mm deep – (25.4mm =1 inch).
The Movement, which has a going barrell and exposed mainspring, is in very good cosmetic and working condition, bears sn160 and is signed as shown in the pics.
The 46mm White Enamel Dial is in superb condition and has Roman Numerals, a Glass Crystal and Blue Spade Hands.
It is being sold as described and in the condition as shown in the pics and comes to you directly from a large Irish Watch Collection, which was assembled over the past 40-50 years – (Ref :ACC207).
