Here we offer an English Verge Fusee Pocket Watch, which has an Enamel Dial and comes in a Gilt inner case and Outer Leather covered case. The Movement is signed Jn Hubbard, London; It is running well but very fast. It is Key Wound on the Back and and Key Set on the Dial and dates to around 1725. G.H Baillie lists John Hubbard as working in London. He was apprenticed in 1715 and became a member of the Clockmakers Company in 1722..
The Verge Fusee Movement has Tulip Pillars and is in very good cosmetic condition. It is signed as shown in the pics and has a very nice cock with an early Face of Chronos
It is housed in Pair Cases; the inner is Gilt and 43mm in Diameter. It is in good condition but has some loss to the gilt colour on the bottom and parts of the rim. The Outer measures 55mm in diameter and is in very good condition. It is Gilt on the inside and the outer is finished in pinned Leather and is 25mm deep – (25.4mm =1 inch).
The 40mm White Enamel Dial has Roman Hour Numerals and Arabic Minutes in the outer chapter ring. It has a raised Glass Crystal with Bulls Eye lens and Beetle and Poker hands. The glass is split down the centre and will need to be replaced.
It is being sold as described and in the condition as shown in the pics and comes to you directly from a large Irish Watch Collection, which was assembled over the past 40-50 years – Ref :ACC238
