General Description450
Here we offer a rare English 15min Repeater Pocket Watch, which is in very good cosmetic condition; is working very well and keeping time to within 1 min per day. It is signed Ganthony (Richard Pinfold), London. It has a Large diamond end-stone and is Key Wound on the back and and Key Set on the Dial.
The Fusee Lever Movement, bearing sn 2032 is in very good cosmetic and working condition and the plunge repeater mechanism works very accurately, when sounding the gongs. It has Jewelling which is screwed into Chatons, a Gold Balance Wheel and a Compensation Curb to better control the accuracy of timing. Richard Ganthony died in 1845 and this watch dates to around 1830. It was cased in 1873 and incorrectly given sn 2052, an obvious error of interpretation of the movement number.
It is housed in a Silver Consular Case, which bears Silver Assay Marks and a London year date for 1873c. This is Stamped with the Makers Mark J.W & Co. – Joseph Walton (see Priestley). It measures 60mm in diameter (98mm incl. Pendant ring) and 22mm deep – (25.4mm =1 inch).
The 52mm White Enamel Dial has Roman Numerals and is in very good condition. It has an Acrylic Crystal and Gold Hands and is being sold as described and in the condition as shown in the pics – (Ref : ACC 222).
This early 19th Century repeater is in excellent condition; is very collectible and comes to you directly from a large Irish Watch Collection, which was assembled over the past 40-50 years. It is priced at €1,850, or nearest offer.
The S&H Worldwide is by Fedex at a cost of €85 to €115, depending on destination of sale.
