This is a good example of an Open Faced SOLID SILVER Pocket Watch, which has a SUPERB 47mm CREAM Enamel Dial with Roman Numerals and is running well and keeping good time. It runs for around 7 hours and stops, it seems the chain may be catching somewhere in the fusee, as when you wind it each time (6-7 winds), it runs again for 7 hours.
The 53mm case is stamped with the Lion Passant SILVER Standard Mark and a CHESTER Hallmark, with year date for 1826c. It is signed by the Maker TH & Co. (incuse). The bezel is not pinned to the case, but fits very snugly and tight.
It has an early Full Plate Table Roller Fusee-Lever Movement, signed FERRIER, HULL and bears S/N 3017. The roller with the steel impulse pin protrudes below the plate. It is signed Detatched Lever on the cock and you will note the early use of timing screws on the balance wheel . It is Key Wound and Set. Ref: 317 D
Brian Loomes lists William Thornton Ferrier as working in HULL from 1820 -1851.
