This is a very nice 9ct Gold Wristwatch, which dates to 1916.
The 15 Jewel Movement is in very good condition; running very well and keeping time to within a few minutes per day. It is signed as shown in the pics.
The 9ct Gold Case measures 33mm in diameter (35 incl crown) and 37mm to the lugs. It is in very good condition, with some light wear and scratch marks on the back and rim.There is small section at 1, which could be a flaw or a flush repair It is signed J.W. (James Weir was a watch manufacturer, chronometer maker to the Admiralty, jeweller & silversmiths, and had premises in Glasgow at 25 and 27 Argyle Street and 66 Buchanan Street, two of the main shopping streets in Glasgow city centre – see vintagewatchstraps) ; bears sn587684 and is stamped 9.375, with a Glasgow Import Mark for 1916. It is fitted with a 12mm Brown Leather Strap, which measures 220mm in overall length – Ref. ACC422.
The 29mm Double-sunk Enamel Dial is in beautiful condition. It has large Arabic Numerals, with the luminous coating, still in very good condition. The spider hands are also in great condition and it has vibrant minute tracks.
