General Description
Here we offer an Irish Fusee Pocket Watch, which has the Ultra rare Savage 2 pin lever and a dial signed “Patent 4501” . The watch comes in Silver Pair Cases which are in very good condition. The inner bears the Case Maker’s Mark I G (Joseph Glenny, Clerkenwell – see Priestley) is sn 501 (the last 3 digits of the Dial sn) and has Silver Assay Marks with a year date for Chester 1814. The Outer bears the Case Maker’s Mark N.L. and has Silver Assay Marks with a year date for Chester 1812 (This could also be 1834, as the town mark is confusing).
The Movement is signed William Molyneux, Dublin and is in very good cosmetic and working condition and keeping time to within 3 minutes per day. It is Key Wound on the Back and and Key Set on the Dial and bears sn 383. It was recently Serviced by my Watchmaker and has a 29hr chain. William is listed as a Watch & Clockmaker working in 1814 at 32, Sackville St. (Dublin’s Main St, now O’Connell St.) – see Watch and Clockmakers in Ireland, by William Galland Stuart : (Edited by David Boles).
It is housed in Silver Pair Cases, as described above. The Outer measures 53mm in diameter and is in very good condition. The 51mm Watch Case is also in Excellent condition and is 25mm deep, incl. lens – (25.4mm =1 inch). It has a glass crystal with a Bullseye Lens,
The 46mm Porcelain finished Dial is in very good condition. It has Roman Numerals and a raised Glass Crystal with Bulls Eye Lens (which exhibits many scrapes and scratches) and Gold Hands.
It is being sold as described and in the condition as shown in the pics and comes to you directly from a large Irish Watch Collection, which was assembled over the past 40-50 years – (Ref : ACC 217).
This is an extremely rare and very collectible Pocket Watch and is priced at €1,495, or nearest offer.
